Workshop Organisation: I am one of the organisers of a Dagstuhl Workshop on Innovations for Shape Analysis: Models and Algorithms. (April 4-8, 2011).


I received my diploma and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics from the University of Hamburg in 1998 and 2001, respectively. After finishing my PhD in Hamburg, I held positions at the University of Hamburg, at the University of Bordeaux 1 and at the Technical University Braunschweig. There, I also finished my habilitation in mathematics in November 2006.

Since April 2006, I am a member of the Mathematical Image Analysis Group at the Saarland University. In the winter semester 07/08, I was as a temporary full professor a member of the Numerical Mathematics Group at the Johannes-Gutenberg-University Mainz.

Concerning my private life, I am married and have five children.
