In September 2017, Joachim Weickert will be a
Visiting Professor at the Isaac Newton Institute for
Mathematical Sciences, located at the University of Cambridge (UK).

Inpainting-Based Image Compression (November 13-18, 2016).

(CVPR 2016, Las Vegas, NV, USA, June 26 - July 1, 2016), Peter Ochs
has received an Outstanding Reviewer Award.
On April 29, 2016, Pascal Peter has defended his Ph.D. thesis on
"Understanding and Advancing PDE-based Image Compression".
Prof. Joan Serra Sagristà (Universitat Autònoma de
Barcelona, Spain) and Dr. habil. Hanno Scharr (Forschungszentrum
Jülich, Germany) were external committee members.
Computer Science Teaching Award:
On April 18, 2016, a Busy Beaver Teaching Award of the computer
science students has been given to Joachim Weickert for his classes on
Differential Equations in Image Processing and Computer Vision.
Jean Kuntzmann Prize:
Joachim Weickert is the laureat of the
Prix Jean Kuntzmann 2016 pour les Sciences du Numérique.
This prize is awarded by the Laboratoire Jean Kuntzmann and the
Persyval-Lab of the University Grenoble Alpes to honour outstanding
interdisciplinary research that covers mathematics, computer science,
Naoufal Amrani has received a mobility grant from the Autonomous
University of Barcelona that covers a three months visit to our group
between May and July 2016. It allows to continue our collaboration on
hyperspectral image compression that has started in 2015.
In February 2016, Joachim Weickert has been appointed to the editorial
board of the Springer book series
Computational Imaging and Vision.
On September 25, 2015, Oliver Demetz has defended his Ph.D. thesis on
"Feature Invariance versus Change Estimation in Variational Motion
