Entropy plays a fundamental role in information theory.
We investigate the behaviour of Renyi's generalized entropies under
Gaussian scale-space. After reviewing the axioms of information theory
we establish monotony properties of generalized entropies with respect
to order and scale. Examples are presented which apply this concept
to texture discrimination. Finally we outline relations between
generalized entropies and fractal theory.
